When Ice-Nine plays, you’d better be head banging, or at least tapping your feet, because if you’re not you’re probably dead. These three young Bostonians and a random Michigander have managed to incorporate intricate rhythm changes and multi-faceted guitar hooks with melodies that are as catchy as they are on the cutting edge of pop-punk.
The band has cultivated, literally, a world-wide following by developing a creative and extensive internet campaign. Ice-Nine’s songs have been in the top ten downloaded songs on Purevolume.com, right up there with such acts as Fall Out Boy and Motion City Soundtrack. The band has been featured several times as the local “Buzz cut” band on the “Deek and Melissa Show” on Boston’s WBCN radio. Their music and live show have been favorably reviewed by media outlets such as The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald, and www.poppunk.com.
Although two band members were still seniors in high school in 2004, the group managed to play shows virtually every weekend throughout Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire and Connecticut. Their hometown headlining shows consistently draw over 200 kids who scream along with every line of every single song. The quality of the music, combined with their incredible energy - crazy jumps, swinging guitars, and controlled mayhem - has made Ice-Nine a stand-out band in a very crowded Boston-area music scene. National acts such as Over It, The Matches, and Local H, as well as local favorite Big D and The Kids Table, have invited Ice-Nine to play at their gigs in recognition not only of their talent, but of the loyal following that they consistently draw.
With the debut of their second demo CD in June, 2004, and an extensive East-Coast tour, Ice-Nine is determined to make sure that everyone and their brother knows who they are.
